About + contact - FAQ [en]

Hey! I'm Angéla, a designer and book enthusiast based mostly in Hungary.

You can follow my rare updates on social media, such as Instagram, or this blog about my personal projects

Frequently Asked Questions

1.) Are you a pro illustrator?

I am a professional designer, a person who designs visuals that need to convey a message, sell a product, promote, or explain something. This is 95% craftsmanship, not art.  I worked on making F1 (Formula One) post-race parties as a project and for research laboratories like SZTAKI, I have decades of experience.

Drawing is my hobby.
Seems better for work-life balance to just have a regular job (you slightly dislike) than slowly despise a hobby you used to enjoy because it's now a nine-to-five.

2.) I need some career counseling. Can I be a designer/artist myself?

Let me be honest.
Recommending kids to avoid aesthetical occupations (actor, musician, painter, etc.) is very good advice because most can never break into the industry to earn even minimum wage.  It’s a business almost entirely based on luck.
You may believe that being hardworking and creative and working on your skills or something might help you, but it’s pretty much the same as believing that sacrificing a lamb will please the gods.

Societies dont need thousands of artists. We only need a couple.
The same goes for professional sports and all artistic professions. Like 95% of them dont make it.

In a less unfortunate scenario, at best you can earn enough to get by, you just have to work way more for the same money as you would earn as an assistant at a law firm. People will try and get you cheap as they expect you to do it for the "exposure".
I write about it in detail here. In short: the trick is to offer what the client wants; not what you think is your best work

3.) Do you take requests? Or even commission?

I very rarely work on projects other than my own, except for my friends and people whose work I respect very much.

Drawing is finally a hobby for me again, something I can do without any stress or goals.
I enjoy having something that’s uniquely mine that I can work on at the end of the day, something that doesn’t feel like an extension of my job.
I don't like chasing anything ever, and "art" for me, in my experience, was a lot of chasing.

In the past, I was working a full-time job and also drawing full-time. I wasn't getting any sleep so, at some point, I also experienced how unstable the design/art industry is in general.

(I designed once a tiny mascot, just for personal fun. A close friend of mine attempted to do suicide and it was the way for me to process the experience. Our shared adventures were the inspiration for the story of the mascot. (If you think it is "edgy or cool", no it is not, it is a desperate way to organize your emotions and memories.)
The mascot was so popular that 2 guys separately asked me to use it in their business models, to sell merch, and to integrate it into their agenda... It had the potential of a great financial success. At first, I was excited but within days I realized that I did not want to work with either of them. The discussions were embarrassing and awkward. Supervising quality control seemed to be impossible. Seeing your precious creation be mismanaged like that..)

For me, the whole point of drawing is to be entertained and have fun.
I don't let anyone ruin that for me.

Therefore usually I don't do commissions. At all.
If my situation changes, I will update this info page.

If I accept your request you have to pay.
I don’t work for free.

4.) I still want to work with you! Can I?

Email or direct message me if you have any questions!
Payment is required upfront, to secure your production slot.
No "exposure" bullshit, I'll be paid my business rate or above.

5.) Contact info?

Email me, or send me a PM on Facebook with a list you'd like. Don't forget to include a description of the subject and the timeframe.

My email is: the.night.must.fall@gmail.com

I don't use DeviantArt, or any other directly art-related community websites anymore because I find their layout visually ugly and hard to navigate, hence I stopped uploading drawings entirely.

(I deleted my own DeviantArt page finally when they used the uploaded images without permission to train their AI model. Previously I won achievements and got "Daily Deviation" on the main page, etc. I got thousands of followers and hundreds of incoming messages/day sometimes. It is gone and I do not miss it.)

Being an introvert who can´t stand overstimulation, that world is alien to me. If I get overstimulated then I shut down -sometimes for months- and that's that.

I prefer being alone in my world.

6.) Can you give constructive criticism for my art?

*Angéla looking at your stuff*
Mother of God, that is very creative, nobody could ever imagine that, wow, I love it, I think it is an unprecedented work, it is on the cusp of creativity.
